Mayor Duterte Graces the JCI Alabang and JCI Ortigas Joint General Membership Meeting

Pasay, Philippines – The first ever Joint General Membership Meeting (GMM) and Opportunity to Impact (OTI) of JCI Alabang and JCI Ortigas last August 9, 2015 in Tramway Buffet Roxas Blvd was met with great praise and success. The guest of honor, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte of Davao City, captivated the audience with his charisma and powerful speech.

Other guest speakers include the Hon. Bernard Faustino Dy, Mayor of Cauayan City, Isabela. He was awarded as one of the Most Outstanding Mayors all-over the Philippines in 2014, adjudged as the Youth Ambassador for Peace, and responsible for making Cauayan City the first smarter city in the country.

NP Bernard is a man whose achievements are not only recognized here in the country but abroad, having served as the JCI Vice President of Asia and Pacific, leading six Asian countries including Japan and Korea. In his talk, “Life, Work, and JCI,” NP Bernard discussed his journey in JCI from being an active JCI member since 2003 promoting positive change throughout his JCI career– from charter president to the 63rd National President of JCI Philippines.

To introduce the JCI movement to the non-JCI members in the audience, the group tapped former Area Training Director Carlos Melad of JCI Manila. He gave an overview of the JCI history, values, and mission/vision to encourage more people to join the movement.

A General Membership Meeting will not be complete without the discussion of the recent projects and upcoming events. JCI Alabang Secretary-General, KC Ang, shared with the audience the July projects of JCI Alabang: RFID Offsite Installation in Ayala Alabang, Go Solar – Liter of Light Implementation in Muntinlupa Science High School, Blood Donation Drive, and others. She also encouraged the audience to support Got Heart: Be a Hero on Heroes Day on Aug 30, La Cage Aux Folles, a Musical in RCBC running from August to September, and H2 Flow Metro South Fellowship.

JCI Ortigas encouraged everyone to support their Drinks for a Cause on Aug 12, TOYM nominations, and support for the bid for the Metro Natcon 2017.

Present to witness the momentous occasion were 171 guests including the 2015 JCI National President Brian Lim, Metro Area Vice President Steve Tycangco, Metro South Region Vice President Chai Talag, Batch Legacy presidents from San Juan Dambana, Makati, Lipa, Paranaque Asinderas, members of the national board– National Secretary General Chris Camba, National Chairman for TOYM Jaegar, officers and members from other chapters.

Both presidents, Pres Aimee Flordeliza of JCI Alabang and Pres Claiza Bihasa of JCI Ortigas were at hand to open the session, present the gifts to the guest speakers, and close the session. The two mayors were given gifts from It’s ‘Bout Time.
