OPLAN BILIS BANGON is the operational name of JCI Alabang’s relief efforts during calamities and disasters. Normally, as in the case of Typhoon Yolanda, it takes a certain lead time to organize and send relief goods to disaster-struck areas. Families are often left to fend for themselves in the first few days (sometimes even weeks) before help arrives. OPLAN BILIS BANGON aims to fill that crucial gap by providing rapid response, no matter how small it may be, to victims as a sort of ‘first aid’ by pro-actively gathering relief goods and providing a ready source of volunteers for sudden relief operations.

On July 19, 2014, a volunteer team from JCI ALABANG executed OPLAN BILIS BANGON’s first operation. JCI Alabang, through the generosity of its members, friends, and partners, handed out packed relief goods to more than 100 families in evacuation centers in Alabang, Cupang and Sucat.

The operation was conducted with no fanfare at 10:30pm and despite the fact that most of the areas were still suffering from blackouts as we wanted to get the relief goods to the families before typhoon Henry hit.

JCI Alabang. We don’t want any recognition. We really just want to help.
