Kwansei Gakuin University Visits Haven for Children
A group of Kwansei Gakuin University students visited Haven for Children, Muntinlupa last last Aug. 27, 2015. Prof Masakazu Sakaguchi led the eight students to have a cultural exchange session with the kids in Haven.
The development studies students taught the kids to do a Japanese dance and made japanese-style fans. There was also a rock-paper-scissors playoff. Simple snacks were shared with the kids after an afternoon of activities.
The group also gave some gifts to Haven for Children, including a monetary gift that Haven for Children will use for the upcoming Family Day.
Professor Sakaguchi and the Kwansei Gakuin students were in the Philippines for a trek with ADB. The students chose to visit Haven for Children for a cultural exchange and JCI Alabang helped coordinate to make this happen.
Professor Sakaguchi said, “We are very happy with the visit to Haven for Children. I plan to return here next year with a different set of students. Thank you JCI Alabang for making this possible.”
JCI Alabang President Aimee Flordeliza said, “Cultural exchange with Japan is usually limited to those privileged who can afford to travel to Japan. Thank you to Sakaguchi-san and the Kwansei Gakuin students for taking the time to visit Haven for Children.”
Congratulations to the JCI Alabang project chairman Andre Oblepias and project member Francis Villanueva for a job well done!
